Royal Air Maroc (RAM) has announced the launch, as part of its network strengthening plan and in preparation for the summer season, of new airline routes from its hub in Casablanca to Naples, Manchester, and Abuja, starting on June 22, 2024.

The company will resume its direct flights to Naples (Italy) from June 22, with two weekly frequencies (Monday and Saturday), RAM said in a statement. The Casablanca-Naples flight will depart from Casablanca’s Mohammed V International Airport at 4:15 pm and arrive in Naples at 8:30 pm (local time), while the Naples-Casablanca flight will depart at 9:30 pm and arrive in Casablanca at 11:50 pm (local time).

RAM will also launch a new route connecting Casablanca to Manchester (England) on June 23, with three weekly frequencies (Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday). Departure from Casablanca will be at 1:45 pm with arrival in the UK city at 5:20 pm (local time), and the return is scheduled for 6:20 pm with arrival in Casablanca at 9:45 pm (local time).

On the same day, the company will strengthen its African network with a new service to Abuja, the capital of Nigeria. This new direct route will operate three times a week (Tuesday, Friday, and Sunday).

Departure from Casablanca will be at 1:15 am with arrival at Abuja International Airport at 6:10 am (local time), and departure from Abuja will be at 7:10 am with arrival in Casablanca at 11:55 am (local time).

Quoted in the statement, RAM’s CEO, Hamid Addou, stated that the launch of these three new routes is part of their development plan aiming to open air routes in several promising markets and meet the strong demand in countries with a large Moroccan community.

“Launching these routes also aims to strengthen our continental positioning in favor of the African Diaspora, particularly in Nigeria. Lastly, the opening of these routes aims to make air travel a lever for promoting Morocco’s tourist destination,” he said.

Through the opening of these new routes, the national carrier reaffirms its ambitions to strengthen its position in strategic markets in line with its development strategy. The Casablanca-Naples direct route will enhance the company’s offering in Italy, enabling smooth travel for Moroccans living in the country as well as Italian tourists.

RAM will offer 6 direct connections and 43 frequencies (86 flights round trip) per week between the two countries. In addition to Naples, Casablanca is directly connected to Rome, Milan, Bologna, Turin, and Venice.

As for the Casablanca-Abuja route, it will contribute to strengthening RAM’s presence in Nigeria, where it currently offers a daily flight between Casablanca and Lagos. This new route will allow RAM to consolidate its position among major players in African aviation and expand its African network to 27 destinations served from its Casablanca hub.

Lastly, by inaugurating the Casablanca-Manchester route, Royal Air Maroc strengthens its air connections to the British market, supporting Morocco’s tourism strategy to double the number of British tourists by 2028, the statement concludes.
