Berkane Renaissance has qualified for the semi-finals of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Cup by beating Libyan club Abu Salim SC 3-2 in the second leg of the quarter-finals on Sunday.

The 2020 and 2022 title winners showed their resilience against opponents who did not just come for a walk in an exciting match that saw a total of five goals scored in one half and also saw two players sent off.
Berkane’s Omar El Arjoun and Abu Salim’s Hossam El Abani were both ordered off the field in injury time as both teams fought for victory.
This victory for Berkane comes after the first leg of the quarter-finals ended in a goalless draw in Benghazi.
The first half remained goalless. Despite attempts from both sides, the home team faced strong resistance from the Libyan defense, which thwarted all attempts from the team of Tunisian coach Mouin Chaabani.
Abu Salim came out strong in the second half, surprising the Moroccans with an early goal in the 47th minute by Hossam El Abani. However, Senegalese player Boubacar Fall equalized 20 minutes later.
Moroccan defender Adil Tahif added Berkane’s second goal in the 72nd minute, making it 2-1 in favor of the Berkanis. Refusing to give up, Abu Salim players managed to equalize in the 83rd minute thanks to Abd El Moumen El Ayan, intensifying the match.
Berkane’s efforts paid off with a third goal in the 90+15th minute, sealing their qualification for the semi-finals of the competition.
