The Guelmim-Oued Noun Regional Council recently approved, during its regular session for the month of March 2024, several conventions covering various development areas.
A partnership agreement was approved for the financing and implementation of the program to promote educational and sports activities, with a total estimated amount of 646 million dirhams (MDH), as part of the implementation of the 2022-2026 roadmap.
In the promotion of the cultural sector, a set of agreements under the Guelmim-Oued Noun Regional Development Program 2022-2027 were approved. This includes a partnership agreement aimed at developing and diversifying the region’s cultural and youth offerings, with a total estimated amount of 312 MDH, and an agreement to support and enhance the region’s heritage through the creation of the regional development company “Guelmim-Oued Noun Culture and Heritage,” as well as the approval of the articles of association of the Regional Development Company for a total estimated amount of 4 MDH.
An agreement was also approved for the development of cultural and entertainment festivals, cultural and artistic animation, and support for regional grassroots activities, including associations and individuals working in the artistic, cultural, and media fields in the region, with a total estimated amount of 48 MDH, in addition to a specific partnership agreement for the restoration and rehabilitation of the region’s heritage with an estimated amount of 94 MDH.
During this session chaired by Mbarka Bouaida, President of the Guelmim-Oued Noun Regional Council, and attended notably by the Governor of the region, Mohamed Najem Abhay, a partnership agreement for the financing and implementation of a project to rehabilitate the old medina of Guelmim was adopted, with a total budget of 120 MDH. Similarly, the regional council approved a partnership agreement for the equipment of an exhibition and conference hall in the commune of Al Mahbes in the province of Assa-Zag for a total sum of 8 MDH.
