According to the governor, the Souss-Massa region, with its many assets, is capable of becoming an industrial hub that can enhance its resources, promote productive sectors, and strengthen investment attractiveness.

Diversification: Sectorial meetings, field visits, decision-making – four months after taking office as the governor of Souss-Massa, Saaïd Amzazi has had time to assess the region and its ongoing progress. He is now fully engaged and has a clear vision of the potential of Souss-Massa. He believes the region has great potential but still needs support.

As the president of the Steering Committee for the Urban Development Program (PDU) 2020-2024, the governor is responsible for overseeing this major project. Many projects have been completed and others are underway. The program has contributed to the economic and tourist attractiveness of Grand Agadir. The city needs to be prepared for major international events such as the Africa Cup of Nations and the World Cup.

Promoting industrial productive sectors: The governor also prioritizes the economic development of Agadir and the region through tourism and industry. The industrial sector has been mainly focused on agro-food industries, but efforts are being made to diversify economic activities. New industrial zones are attracting significant investment, with a focus on creating jobs and boosting the industrial sector.

Enhancing region connectivity and focusing on offshoring: Improving regional connectivity and logistics infrastructure is key to economic diversification. Plans for a dry port in the region will enhance Agadir’s status as an African hub and attract more investors. The region aims to prioritize offshoring as a key industrial activity.

Rethinking the tourism sector: Tourism remains a crucial pillar of the regional economy, and efforts are being made to revitalize the sector post-Covid. Upgrading urban areas and developing new infrastructure are essential to attract more tourists and increase the sector’s competitiveness.

Overall, economic actors, government officials, and stakeholders need to work together to elevate the Souss-Massa region to a leading economic position nationally. Water management should also be a priority in any development projects to ensure a sustainable future for the region. The goal is for Souss-Massa to become a central player in the Kingdom and a gateway to sub-Saharan Africa.
