The Head of Government, Mr. Aziz Akhannouch, received his Hungarian counterpart, Mr. Viktor Orban, on Friday, April 12, 2024 in Marrakech, who is on a visit to the Kingdom.
This meeting was an opportunity to highlight the strength of the friendship and cooperation between Morocco and Hungary, which have seen significant developments in recent years, in line with the commitment of His Majesty King Mohammed VI to diversify partnerships with EU member states.
The meeting also emphasized the importance of strengthening and expanding economic cooperation between the two countries, with Morocco being Hungary’s top trading partner in Africa, with a trade volume of around 4.1 billion Dirhams (382 million euros) in 2022, an increase of 25% compared to 2021.
The two parties also discussed preparations for the 5th Morocco-Hungary Economic Commission meeting scheduled for October 2024, marking the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
During the meeting, Mr. Viktor Orban extended an invitation to the Head of Government to visit Hungary for a working visit.
These discussions also touched on several regional and international issues, examining ways to develop partnership on all levels and acknowledging the alignment of the two countries’ views on many international issues.
