This large-scale humanitarian aid is indeed being transported by land to Gaza, making Morocco the first country to make this exceptional breakthrough since the outbreak of armed hostilities. Up to now, aid destined for the people of Gaza either passed through Egypt via the Rafah crossing, or was dropped from airplanes. The latter option carries several risks, such as the destruction of supplies and the falling of cargo causing casualties among the population.
The Moroccan aid, coinciding with the sacred month of Ramadan, is primarily aimed at children, women, and the elderly, giving it an extra soul in these times of communion and sharing. This important humanitarian operation once again reflects the continued concern of His Majesty the King, President of the Al-Quds Committee, for the Palestinians and their cause, and fits into a long-standing Moroccan tradition of active solidarity. In the same spirit, His Majesty the King personally took charge, using private funds, of a large part of this aid, especially for infants and young children.
This aid consists of over 40 tons of food supplies, including essential items, destined for the population of Gaza. For the people of Jerusalem, 2,000 food baskets will be distributed and 1,000 meals will be served daily. The aid also includes providing a coordination room for emergencies at the Jerusalem hospital.
It is worth noting that Morocco has carried out previous humanitarian operations for the Palestinians. This was the case in 2023 when Moroccan planes transported 25 tons of humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza, via the Rafah crossing from Egypt, and in 2018 when the Kingdom deployed a medical-surgical field hospital in Gaza.
The success of this humanitarian operation is the result of the wise and visionary leadership of His Majesty the King, a leadership driven by a vision of peace and focused on providing effective and concrete support to the Palestinians and their cause.
