The Italian film “There is still tomorrow”, or “C’è ancora domani”, is being released in Moroccan theaters this Wednesday, March 13th.
A huge success in Italy, the first feature film by director and actress Paola Cortellesi has recorded over 5.3 million admissions. With a duration of two hours, shot in black and white, this historical drama about patriarchal violence in post-war Rome has become one of the five biggest successes in the history of Italian cinema. It was honored with a screening last week at the Chamber of Deputies in Italy, just before International Women’s Day. The film follows the story of Delia (played by Paola Cortellesi, who is also the director), married to Ivano and mother of three children. She lives in Rome in the second half of the 1940s.
“The city is then divided between the hope born of liberation and the material difficulties caused by the war that has just ended. Faced with her authoritarian and violent husband, Delia finds comfort only with her friend Marisa, with whom she shares moments of lightness and intimate confidences. Their gloomy routine comes to an end in the spring when the whole family, in turmoil, prepares to celebrate the upcoming engagement of their eldest daughter, Marcella. But the arrival of a mysterious letter will disrupt everything and push Delia to find the courage to imagine a better future, not only for herself,” the synopsis says. This film, which premiered at the Rome Film Festival, has now become a phenomenon in Italy.
