The city of Tetouan is celebrating World Poetry Day from March 25 to April 5 through a series of rich and varied cultural activities, initiated by the House of Poetry.
On the program for this event is the organization of the 2nd edition of the “Ramadan Nights,” which will begin on March 25 at 9:30 pm at the National School of Crafts and National Arts, with an evening full of color featuring poets Abdellatif Chahboun, Latifa Ouazzani Taybi, and Othmane Hichou. Additionally, Moroccan poets and female poets, as well as singers, will participate in this event, which will also be marked by the signing of new literary publications, according to the House of Poetry in Tetouan. This poetic evening will be complemented by an artistic show presented by the group “Souhbat Al Falah,” led by Amina El Idrissi, including spiritual chants.
Furthermore, the message from UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay on the occasion of World Poetry Day will be read during this artistic evening. In her message, Ms. Azoulay emphasizes that poetry has the unique ability to make us perceive the world around us differently. “On this World Poetry Day, UNESCO celebrates this power to question certainties in order to remain open to others, to welcome the world in the plurality of its components, all essential foundations for the construction of peaceful societies,” she said. “World Poetry Day is thus an opportunity for everyone to delve into the living heart of oneself and the world,” added the UN official.
