The first three episodes each managed to attract over 2 million views.
After “Unofficial Spokesperson,” comedy star Mohamed Bassou is back on the web with his hilarious series “Si Al Kala,” which is being broadcast during this holy month on his YouTube channel.
Comedian Mohamed Bassou has chosen to reveal more of himself on the web this year. His new comedy series called “Si Al Kala,” which has been airing since the beginning of Ramadan, is enjoying success on social media, especially on his YouTube channel. In fact, the first three episodes have each attracted over two million views and have trended in Morocco. The concept of this work revolves around a corrupt official who makes dozens of calls a day from his office to satisfy his interests through illegal means such as falsifying university certificates or hiring those who do not deserve it. Bassou has already touched on similar topics in his previous successful humor videos, including “Unofficial Spokesperson,” which was aired on his YouTube channel three years ago.
According to film critic Abdelkrim Ouakrim, the series “Si Al Kala” is completely different from what is shown on television screens, such as sitcoms and series that do not meet the requirements of true comedy. He notes that it addresses “both current, burning, and important social issues in a comedic way.” He emphasizes that Bassou, with his writing abilities and perfect acting, accompanied by a technical team and a simple staging, has met the expectations of the Moroccan public, who have praised this approach through positive comments. Mr. Ouakrim mentions the importance of “black comedy and its important role” in embodying the reality of Moroccan society. He points out that “black comedy offers the possibility to address social problems that, presented in a dramatic form, could make the audience cry, but in a comedic form they make them laugh at their condition, their problems, and the tragedies they experience.”
