The second edition of the “Nights of Souk Laghzal” Ramadan festival, organized jointly by the municipality of Salé and the Salé Foundation for Culture and Arts, will take place from March 19 to April 2.

According to the organizers, this event is part of a comprehensive vision aimed at promoting cultural offerings during this sacred month and valuing the historical significance of “Souk Laghzal” in the Medina of Salé. Renowned throughout history as a crucible for the musical and vocal heritage of the pioneers of Andalusian music and the art of Malhoun, this square has become, after the rehabilitation of the Medina of Salé, a functional space capable of hosting cultural and artistic activities.

Given the specificity of the religious and spiritual atmosphere of the month of Ramadan, the organizing committee promises a varied program adapted to the environment of “Souk Laghzal”. The cultural event program includes musical evenings animated by groups from Salé specializing in Andalusian singing, Malhoun, and Aïssaoua heritage, the same source notes, pointing out that religious singing and Sufi poetry will be widely present in this edition. This event will also be marked by evenings of the “Feminine Hadra of Salé”, led by artist Souad Laghrissi (March 19), and the art of Malhoun (March 22), as well as a performance by the Aïssaoua Heritage group from Salé, led by moqadem El Ayachi (March 26). Two other musical evenings will be animated respectively by the El Wardi Orchestra of Sufi singing (March 29), and the El Baroudi Orchestra of Andalusian music under the direction of artist Tarek El Hassouni, with the participation of artist Abdeslam Soufiani (on April 2).
