This session is dedicated to the examination of several aspects related to the regional development program and the issue of drinking water supply.
The Souss-Massa Regional Council held its regular session for the month of March 2024 in Inezgane on Monday.
During this session, several points related to land development for the implementation of drinking water supply projects and the qualification of certain municipalities in the region were approved.
There was also validation of a series of points related to the environment for the implementation of sewage projects and flood protection. The Souss-Massa Regional Council also approved a framework agreement for the organization of the Souss-Massa Climate Prize, as well as financial, economic, social, and cultural issues.
Speaking on this occasion, the president of the Souss-Massa Regional Council, Karim Achengli, emphasized that this session focused on several aspects, particularly the regional development program and the issue of drinking water supply. In this regard, Mr. Achengli mentioned the planning of a set of agreements for drinking water supply projects mobilizing 348 million dirhams, with a contribution of 16 million dirhams from the Souss-Massa region. He also mentioned that this session also highlighted issues related to economic, cultural, social, and financial development, as well as the valorization of the region’s tourism potential.
For his part, the Wali of the Souss-Massa region, Governor of Agadir Ida Outanane prefecture, Saaid Amzazi, emphasized that this session comes after the approval of the 2022-2027 regional development program by the Ministry of the Interior to begin its implementation phase by the relevant stakeholders, in addition to the development of a program contract between the State and the region.
The session also takes place in a very particular context, marked by multiple challenges related to the scarcity of precipitation and water shortages, he added, emphasizing the need to intensify efforts, programs, and projects to address this situation.
