The government convenes the national commission for gender equality and women’s empowerment. Indeed, the Head of Government, Mr. Aziz Akhannouch, chaired, on Monday, March 25, 2024 in Rabat, the second meeting of the national commission for gender equality and women’s empowerment, during which the government plan for equality 2023-2026 “Morocco of leadership, prosperity and values” was presented and discussed.
The Head of Government first recalled the conclusions of the first meeting of the commission, which had adopted the strategic framework of the government plan for equality 2023-2026, and emphasized the importance of the government plan in enabling women to enjoy their full rights and strengthening gender equality.
Mrs. Aawatif Hayar, Minister of Solidarity, Social Inclusion and Family, presented the main lines of the government plan for equality 2023-2026, which revolves around three strategic axes: empowerment and leadership, protection and prosperity, and rights and values, in addition to the governance and management system of the plan. This government plan, spread over 4 years, also includes 288 measures.
The development of the government plan for equality 2023-2026, which took place within a participative methodology, was marked by 5 consultation meetings with ministerial departments and national institutions, as well as 5 consultation meetings with associations of territorial communities, civil society, and the private sector.
After discussing the different components of the plan, the Head of Government called on the parties concerned to finalize the development of the governance system and the corresponding financing plan, with the aim of presenting this plan for adoption by the Government Council.
This meeting of the national commission for gender equality and women’s empowerment was marked by the participation of government members, representatives of national institutions, presidents of regional councils, Prefectures and Provinces, municipal councils, as well as the representative of the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises and representatives of civil society associations members of the committee.
