M. Bensaid, Minister of Youth, Culture and Communication, participated on Monday, March 4 in a ministerial session focused on the theme “Culture as a driver of socio-economic development.” Several culture ministers were present, including Ernest Urtasun (Spain), Adriana Ortiz (Paraguay), Marie Anne Janick Jaunbocus (Republic of Mauritius), and Hannatu Musa Musawa (Nigeria).

Bensaid reiterated Morocco’s commitment under the leadership of King Mohammed VI, emphasizing the central role that culture plays in national development. He highlighted its crucial role as a driver of personal and social fulfillment, job creation, and a catalyst for social cohesion.

In this context, Morocco has committed to promoting a society where culture is accessible to all, by increasing the number of cultural venues and tools, reducing access disparities, and strengthening training in cultural professions.
The Minister highlighted the added value brought by cultural and creative industries to the global economy. In this regard, he considers them a promising horizon and a source of sustainable growth. He called for the consolidation of alternative geopolitical instruments based on culture to counter the economic, cultural, and political fractures of the current world.
