The Minister of Agriculture of Egypt, Elsayed Al-Qasir, announced on Thursday, April 11, the opening of Moroccan markets to Egyptian potatoes, as part of the efforts made by the ministry to create new outlets for Egyptian agricultural products, according to an Egyptian government source.
This step is in line with the government’s high political directives to promote Egyptian agricultural exports in order to support the national economy in search of liquidity reserves.
According to the same source, Saad Moussa, supervisor of the Egyptian plant quarantine, explained that the ONSSA had officially notified the approval of the opening of the Moroccan market to Egyptian potato exports, paving the way for authorization to export.
The report also mentions the success of the quarantine in opening the Canadian market to Egyptian exports of fresh strawberries for the first time, with all procedures for opening the Canadian market to strawberry exports completed and all technical requirements of the Canadian side met, thus increasing the contribution of the agricultural sector to the Egyptian national income.
