A recent report from Greenpeace has shed light on air pollution in Africa, which also shows that Morocco still has a lot of work to do in terms of decarbonization. Considered among the sectors that emit the most greenhouse gases, transport in Morocco, for example, is slow to start its revolution towards sustainability as the government continues to opt for thermal vehicles for public transport without setting aside a sufficient minimum share for electric vehicles. However, electric collective mobility solutions that can be locally produced have matured and are just waiting for a proactive direction to decarbonize transport. Otherwise, a whole emerging sector of the Moroccan industry risks seeking greener pastures elsewhere.
