A total of 46,361 retail outlets were inspected from January 1st to March 5th as part of government measures aimed at ensuring the supply of essential products to markets, especially during the holy month of Ramadan, said Mustapha Baitas, the Minister Delegate in charge of relations with the Parliament and government spokesperson in Rabat last Thursday. During this period, 2,983 violations were identified, with 545 resulting in warnings to offenders, and 2,438 reports were issued and transmitted to the appropriate authorities, added Mr. Baitas in response to a question about the government’s actions to guarantee market supply in anticipation of Ramadan, during a press conference following the Council of Ministers meeting. The minister also reported the seizure and destruction of 120 tons of products unfit for consumption and not meeting regulatory standards during the same period, noting that the government and provincial and prefectural committees carry out inspections throughout the year. Additionally, Mr. Baitas assured that the government places “great importance” on supply during Ramadan, mentioning a series of meetings at the central, provincial, and local levels to assess the supply of various markets with consumer products in general, and those in high demand during the holy month in particular.
