The SIAM-2024, a platform for exchange and action for sustainable and resilient production systems
The 16th International Agricultural Show in Morocco (SIAM) in Meknes will serve as a platform for exchange and action for sustainable and resilient production systems in a context marked by climate change, said Mohammed Sadiki, the Minister of Agriculture, Marine Fisheries, Rural Development, and Water and Forests, on Friday in Meknes.
SIAM is now positioned as a unique space for exchange and communication around the vision and agricultural development strategy of the Kingdom, as well as providing an opportunity to meet with various national and international partners, stated Sadiki during a press briefing while visiting the SIAM site, scheduled from April 22 to 28 under the theme “Climate and Agriculture: For sustainable and resilient production systems”.
Sadiki, accompanied by the Governor of the Fes-Meknes region, Said Zniber, the Governor of Meknes, Abdelghani Sabbar, the President of the SIAM Association, Mohammed Fikrat, and the Acting Commissioner of SIAM, Kamal Hidane, stopped to review the progress of site development works and various aspects related to the organization of this important agricultural event.
He emphasized the major role of the exhibition in promoting sustainable agricultural practices, technological innovation, commercial exchanges, and international cooperation.
In a similar statement, Fikrat noted that the ambition of organizing this 16th edition is to provide a space for radiance, dialogue, and innovation, conducive to the exchange of good practices and the initiation and strengthening of strategic partnerships. He added that this year, the focus is on introducing several novelties with the aim of creating a space that is easy to access and smooth for exhibitors and the general public. The Acting Commissioner of SIAM, Kamal Hidane, emphasized that preparations are well underway to offer an exemplary organization for this 16th edition, reflecting the commitment of all stakeholders to ensure the development of Moroccan and international agriculture.
Held annually under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, SIAM is one of the largest agricultural events in Africa and the Middle East. The 16th edition will see the participation of Spain as the guest of honor.
Covering an area of over 12 hectares, the event promises, according to the organizers, to be an enriching experience for professionals and the general public.
The 2024 edition will see the participation of nearly 70 countries and 1,500 exhibitors. More than 950,000 visitors are expected this year at this gathering of Moroccan and international agriculture. Additionally, more than 40 conferences and round tables will be organized as part of this exhibition.
The 16th edition is notably marked by the introduction of a new “Agri-Digital” Hub, illustrating the role of digital technologies in enhancing more efficient and resilient agriculture, the significant expansion of the “Terroir products” sector, showcasing the diversity of Moroccan agriculture, and the introduction of the E-ticket to improve access conditions.
