Tunisian Abdelhay Ben Soltane has been appointed as the new coach of the Maghreb Association Sportive (MAS) of Fes football section, the club has announced. The Tunisian coach, whose appointment follows the departure of Tarik Sektioui, who has been named as the coach of the Moroccan national U23 team, already has experience in Morocco after coaching the Fes club during the 2021-2022 season. Ben Soltane began his new role on Monday evening by leading the first training session for the club’s Yellow and Black players in the spiritual capital of the Kingdom. MAS, currently in 9th place in the Botola Pro D1 inwi championship with 26 points (6 wins, 8 draws, and 7 losses), is hoping that Ben Soltane’s arrival will bring a new dynamic to the team for the second half of the season. The Fes team will have an important test right away with a match against Ittihad de Tanger scheduled for Saturday, March 9 at the Hassan II stadium, a crucial match for MAS, which also has a postponed match against Renaissance Sportive de Berkane. With this appointment, club officials are “convinced” that Abdelhay Ben Soltane, with his experience and knowledge of the Moroccan league, will be able to turn the situation around and bring MAS closer to qualifying for continental competitions. It is a significant challenge for the new Tunisian coach, which Fes supporters hope he will successfully overcome.
