The Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development and Forestry, Mohamed Sadiki, held a meeting in Rabat on Monday with professionals in the red meat sector, as part of preparations for Eid Al-Adha.
During the meeting, Mr. Sadiki emphasized the importance of assessing the current situation of the red meat sector, which is facing challenges such as drought, inflation, and the repercussions of the Covid-19 crisis that have disrupted its production balance. This meeting also provided an opportunity to discuss the supply situation of the domestic market in terms of red meat and to exchange ideas on measures to ensure the supply and stability of this market.
The president of the COPAG cooperative, Moulay M’hamed Loultiti, stated that the meeting aimed to discuss the supply of red meat to the domestic market in anticipation of Eid Al-Adha, and to balance national production with domestic consumption needs and imports.
The president of the National Association of Sheep and Goat Breeders (ANOC), Abderrahmane Mejdoubi, highlighted that the identification operation of sheep and goats intended for sacrifice during Eid Al-Adha began a month and ten days ago, with over 2 million heads identified so far, ensuring that the operation is proceeding “very normally.”
