Chariot Limited and Energean plc Group announce the finalization of their partnership agreements. As part of this transaction, Chariot has received an initial payment of $10 million from Energean. “We are very pleased to have received formal approval from the Moroccan Authorities for this transaction and for Energean to now be officially our partner on the Lixus and Rissana licenses,” said Adonis Pouroulis, CEO of Chariot.
He continued, “Our teams are working closely together on the well planning to ensure the accelerated start of this campaign in the 3rd quarter of 2024.” According to the CEO, further updates will be provided as necessary. Energean now holds 45% and 37.5% respectively in the offshore licenses of Lixus and Rissana, and becomes the operator. Meanwhile, Chariot retains 30% and 37.5% of the interests in these licenses, with ONHYM maintaining its 25% stake in each.
Additionally, a drilling contract has been signed with Stena Drilling for the use of their drilling unit “Stena Forth” for an appraisal drilling and development of a well located east of the Anchois gas field, as well as an additional optional well on the Lixus license. This drilling and testing campaign will take place in the third quarter of 2024. It will further evaluate the existing reservoirs and include flow tests targeting potential untapped resources with the aim of increasing development to over 30 billion cubic meters.
