The Group of Friends (GOF), composed of around forty countries including Morocco, which co-chairs it, has just launched a platform dedicated to recording crimes committed against UN peacekeepers in peacekeeping operations. Details.
Currently presided over by India, this Group of Friends (GOF) held its second meeting during which the member states deliberated on strategies to strengthen the legal framework against perpetrators of crimes against soldiers engaged in peacekeeping operations, according to an Indian media outlet.
This initiative involves creating a new database to document crimes committed against blue helmets to ensure that the perpetrators of these acts are brought to international justice.
It is worth noting that the GOF was launched in 2022 during India’s presidency of the UN Security Council.
Morocco co-chairs the GOF, along with India, Bangladesh, Egypt, France, and Nepal.
