In a press statement following talks with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Residing Abroad, Nasser Bourita, US congressman (Texas), August Pfluger, emphasized that Morocco, under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, and the United States are working together to promote a more stable and secure regional space.
Morocco and the United States are linked by “extremely important” historical relations, he welcomed, highlighting the strategic partnership between Morocco and the USA which benefits the national security of both countries.
He also praised the free trade agreement and cooperation between Morocco and the United States, particularly in terms of security, including the largest multinational exercise on the African continent, African Lion, adding that talks with Mr. Bourita covered several issues, including collaboration to combat any form of threats.
On this occasion, he expressed his thanks to the Kingdom of Morocco for all the work done, as a regional and global leader, specifying that the two countries are working together to promote peace, prosperity and security in the world.
On his part, US congressman (California), Lou Correa, highlighted the excellence of the partnership between Morocco and the United States, calling for further strengthening cooperation between the two countries in various fields, particularly in combating cross-border crime and terrorist organizations.
Morocco is a strategic ally and a source of stability in the entire region, he welcomed, noting that Morocco and the USA, which are linked by common interests and goals, are working to ensure regional security and prosperity.
Morocco was the first country to recognize the independence of the United States of America, he recalled, highly praising the longstanding relations and historical ties between the two countries.
This delegation of members of the US Congress, composed of six representatives from the Republican and Democratic parties, was received on Monday by the Head of Government, Aziz Akhannouch.
This visit is part of the examination of ways to strengthen the strategic relations between Morocco and the United States of America, under the leadership of the two Heads of State, His Majesty King Mohammed VI and President Joe Biden.
