His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, laid the foundation stone for a neighborhood medical center in the Lissasfa district, at the Hay Hassani prefecture (Casablanca) on Tuesday. The center is established under the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity and marks the launch of the second phase of the Connected Mobile Medical Units program by the foundation.

These two projects reflect His Majesty the King’s commitment to strengthening the national healthcare system, improving medical services for citizens, enhancing primary healthcare services, and promoting access to quality basic healthcare for populations, particularly those in rural areas. The aim is to ensure regular medical monitoring and specialized consultations for individuals with health conditions that require it.

With an investment of 90 million dirhams, the future Lissasfa neighborhood medical center, the third of its kind in the Casablanca-Settat region following ones in the Sidi Moumen district and the new city of Errahma, is part of the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity’s action plan to support the national medical sector. It focuses on strengthening healthcare services in densely populated urban areas.

As an intermediate structure between primary healthcare facilities (levels 1 and 2) and hospitals, the new center is expected to serve up to 60,000 people annually. It aims to relieve pressure on existing hospitals in the region and reduce the need for long journeys to other healthcare facilities.

The neighborhood medical center will be built within 24 months on an 11,170 m2 plot of land (7,692 m2 covered area). It will include units for outpatient consultations, functional explorations, physical rehabilitation, dental care, and emergency medical services. Additionally, there will be units for primary healthcare, radiology, delivery, sterilization, an operating room, a medical laboratory, hospitalization facilities, a pharmacy, and a kitchen.

A collaboration between the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity and the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, this project is part of a comprehensive program that plans to establish twelve Neighborhood Medical Centers in total: three in Casablanca, two in Fes, two in Tangier, and one in each of Agadir, Marrakech, Rabat, Sale, and Temara.

During the ceremony, His Majesty the King was briefed on the Hospital Information System, a digital system created by the Ministry of Health and Social Protection that integrates patient data, including administrative details, medical records, and care plans.

As for the Connected Mobile Medical Units program by the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity, the second phase was launched by His Majesty the King on Tuesday. The program aims to enhance access to medical services in rural areas through a combination of primary care and telemedicine.

Established through a partnership between the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity, the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, and the service provider MEDIOT Technology, the pilot program includes the deployment of fifty connected mobile medical units during the first phase across 34 provinces in nine regions of the Kingdom. The second phase will see an additional fifty units deployed.
