Exhibitions, performing arts, literary meetings…

For the months of April, May, and June, the Al Mada Foundation offers a rich and varied program featuring exhibitions, performing arts, educational workshops, and literary meetings. Here are the details!

An agenda full of activities at Al Mada. The Foundation, which has just unveiled its cultural program for the months of April, May, and June, provides a detailed announcement. Several events (exhibitions, performing arts, educational workshops, literary meetings) will animate the Villas des arts in Rabat and Casablanca. Starting with the exhibition of artist Amina Rmiki, scheduled from January 25 to April 28, 2024 in Rabat. “This artist was born in Ksar El Kébir. Paintings and drawings hang on the walls of her childhood home, testifying to her early interest in drawing and painting. During her twenty years of teaching in public schools, she always volunteered to supervise school art projects,” reads a presentation note.

The art of printmaking in the spotlight
The Al Mada Foundation highlights the art of printmaking by unveiling a project in partnership with the Chraibi Abderrazik Foundation, entitled “Print Museum Workshop.” Scheduled from February 13 to May 11, 2024 at the Villa des arts in Casablanca and from May 21 to July 30, 2024 at the Villa des arts in Rabat, this project showcases prints created over 50 years by the Marsam graphic art workshop, as well as a series of engravings in tribute to the great Moroccan artist and master engraver Aziz Abou Ali. “Fifty years ago, Rachid Chraïbi and Zineb Abderrazik created Marsam, a contemporary art gallery and the first printmaking workshop in Morocco. This workshop has produced art serigraphs, engravings, and lithographs with renowned visual artists. Published in limited editions, signed and numbered, these prints allow the transition from the creation of unique works to the production of original works for sharing. Marsam has also published art portfolios, facilitating a meeting between painters and writers around thematic projects for bibliophilic books,” explains the same source. The Foundation also organizes two other exhibitions. The first is dedicated to the monumental sculptures of Lamia Meksi.

It will take place from May 23 to June 19, 2024 on the esplanade of the Villa des arts in Casablanca and from June 21 to August 30, 2024 at the Villa des arts in Rabat. The second is dedicated to the paintings of Imane Feriani. Another event will animate the two Villas des arts (from April 18 to 21), it is the event called “Once upon a time in Al Andalus. Morocco, Spain, and Portugal, a shared history.” This event offers conferences, musical evenings from the three countries, and historical workshops from the Middle Ages. Furthermore, the Foundation organizes literary meetings and book presentations, including “Hypervisual sensitivities, floating art concepts” by Azzeddine Bourka, “Kilito, writer of the world and dreams,” “The Stone of Tinghir” by Bouchra Boulouiz, and finally “Representations of Moroccan women on screen” by Moulay Driss Jaïdi.

A dozen performances
Regarding performing arts, the foundation organizes a dozen performances by various groups and artists such as the Nouba group for Moroccan spiritual music, Nasr Mégri and Nora Toutain, the trio of Gaël Meve and Philippe Petit. It also offers a dramatic reading with music by Hassan El Jaï and Saïd Nouiar, a concert “Midsummer Indie Music Night,” the Music Festival (2nd edition), and a choral singing performance with the Nostalgia choir. Finally, the Foundation offers several educational workshops at the two Villas des arts.
