The elements of the investigation and intervention service of the National Judicial Police Brigade arrested a 34-year-old French national on Friday evening, who was the subject of an international arrest warrant issued by the French authorities for crimes related to the establishment of criminal networks operating in international drug trafficking.
The suspect was apprehended in Casablanca as part of a well-planned security operation, aimed at identifying and locating all the places where the suspect could seek refuge in several Moroccan cities, according to a statement from the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN).
According to preliminary information, the French citizen was wanted internationally under a red notice issued by Interpol, at the request of the French judicial authorities, who suspect him of leading many criminal networks engaged in international drug trafficking and money laundering.
The suspect was taken into custody before being presented on Saturday morning to the competent prosecutor’s office in Casablanca, as part of the extradition procedure, the same source said.
This arrest underscores the relationship of security cooperation and exchange of information between the services of the DGSN and the French National Police in accordance with mechanisms of international cooperation in the security field.
