“A galaxy of critics and researchers participate”
“Marrakech in contemporary Arabic literature” is the theme of a literary symposium scheduled for March 7 and 8, as part of the event “Marrakech, capital of culture in the Islamic world for the year 2024”. Organized by the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) and the House of Poetry (Dar Achiir) in Marrakech, in coordination with the Faculty of Arabic Language, this literary meeting aims to highlight the major role played by the ochre city in the cultural and intellectual influence of Moroccan civilization, according to a statement from the organizers.
The program of this meeting includes a symposium, initiated this Thursday under the theme “Marrakech in contemporary Arabic literature”, which will see the participation of a galaxy of critics and researchers. The activities will continue on Friday, with the organization of a poetic meeting in the context of the celebration of International Women’s Day. The organizers have chosen to welcome the eminent Moroccan poet Malika Al Assimi, who will present her most beautiful poems about Marrakech on this occasion. The public will also have the opportunity to enjoy a heritage concert, animated by the Association Abdellah Chlih for fans of Melhoun.
