The Salernitana, bottom of the Italian Championship, will be led by a fourth coach this season with the arrival of Stefano Colantuono who will, according to reports, be assisted by former French international Franck Ribery.

“Salernitana announces that Fabio Liverani and his staff have been relieved of their duties,” said the Salerno club, which has only won two matches this season in the championship. “The technical responsibility of the team has been entrusted to Stefano Colantuono until the end of the season, who has already coached the club in 2017-18 and 2021-22,” the statement continues.

Colantuono, who has previously managed Atalanta (2010-15) and Torino (2019-20), is the fourth coach of Salernitana, which started the season under Portuguese coach Paulo Sousa, who was fired in October. Former Italian international Filippo Inzaghi succeeded him before being relieved of his duties on February 11, and his successor Fabio Liverani only lasted a little over a month. The club is heading straight for the second division: with 14 points in 29 games, they are eleven points behind the 17th place, which guarantees safety, occupied by Empoli.
