In a press statement following this meeting, Mr. Baraka stated that these discussions were an opportunity to examine ways to strengthen bilateral relations and develop a roadmap for the implementation of large-scale projects related to infrastructure and the 2030 FIFA World Cup, which will be co-organized by Morocco, Spain, and Portugal.

The discussions also focused on the project of a continental link between Morocco and Spain, which will contribute to the consolidation of distinguished bilateral relations, embedded in an advanced dynamic, the minister continued. In this regard, he mentioned the upcoming meeting of the Spanish-Moroccan Joint Committee, scheduled for the end of next May, to develop a roadmap for the evaluation of studies conducted for this purpose and to finalize the design of this strategic project for both countries, as well as for the African and European continents.

Describing this meeting as “fruitful,” Mr. Puente Santiago, on his part, indicated that these discussions were an opportunity to examine various projects in the field of infrastructure, including railway and road networks, common challenges related to the organization of the 2030 FIFA World Cup, and port cooperation. He also praised the good relations between Morocco and Spain, calling for leveraging this momentum to make further progress in both countries.
