An exhibition of Moroccan arts of calligraphy and decoration related to the virtues of Al Qods was inaugurated on Tuesday at the headquarters of the Agency Bayt Mal Al-Qods Acharif in Rabat, under the theme “The chants of the alphabet from Aqsa to Aqsa”, initiated by the Rabat Forum for the revitalization of cultural and artistic heritage.
Organized with the support of the Agency Bayt Mal Al Qods Acharif until the end of Ramadan, this artistic exhibition includes the participation of 21 Moroccan calligraphers, who have been awarded by His Majesty King Mohammed VI for their artistic creations of Moroccan calligraphy, lettering, and decoration, with Al Qods Acharif as the theme. The opening of the exhibition was attended by the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication – Department of Culture, Samira Lemlizi, and the Director in charge of the management of the Agency Bayt Mal Al-Qods Acharif, Mohamed Salem Cherkaoui, as well as representatives of diplomatic delegations accredited in Rabat.
The exhibition includes two pavilions. The first one features paintings that will be auctioned at the end of the exhibition, with the proceeds being donated to the Agency Bayt Mal Al-Qods Acharif, while the second pavilion is dedicated to the artistic tools used by calligraphers, such as paper, ink, and pens, as well as manuscripts and other artistic objects.
Speaking on this occasion, Ms. Lemlizi indicated that this exhibition highlights the richness and diversity of the Moroccan intangible cultural heritage, while conveying constructive messages about Moroccan calligraphy to current and future generations, stressing the special attention that His Majesty King Mohammed VI has consistently given to calligraphy, particularly through the launch of the Mohammed VI Prize for Moroccan calligraphy art. The exhibition “The chants of the alphabet from Aqsa to Aqsa” also highlights that the Kingdom has renowned artists and calligraphers who work to enhance the authenticity of Moroccan calligraphy, she added.
Ms. Lemlizi also stated that the Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication works towards the preservation and conservation of Moroccan heritage, its national and international radiance, as well as the valorization of the richness and importance of Moroccan calligraphy art, as a national cultural heritage.
