A series of new appointments in strategic positions has just been announced by the Akwa Group, confirming its ambitions at the continental level. Insights.

Akwa Africa has a new president in the person of Adil Ziady, who was previously known for leading the “Fuels and Lubricants Division” of Akwa. Mr. Ziady, who has also been president of the Petroleum Group of Morocco, has approximately 30 years of experience in the sector, enabling him to witness and participate in all the strategic transformations of the group created over half a century ago by the Akhannouch and Wakrim families.

Adil Ziady’s mission is to give a new dimension to the pan-African structure. This involves consolidating and strengthening the group’s positioning in the five countries of the continent where Akwa Africa is already present through import, storage, trading, and distribution companies for fuels and lubricants, as well as liquefied petroleum gas filling operations. There are also plans to explore new investment opportunities in new markets. To take over the leadership of the “Fuels and Lubricants Division,” Akwa Group has chosen to promote Said El Baghdadi, who was previously the general manager of Afriquia SMDC.

He in turn hands over his position to Khalid Mouchtaki. The announcement of these new appointments within the Akwa Group comes following Akwa’s decision to create a new division dedicated to energy transition, the environment, and sustainable development, entrusted to another senior executive of the holding, Mohammed Rachid Idrissi Kaïtouni. More than just internal promotions, this new phase of reorganization at Akwa heralds a new stage in the development of this group, which is one of the oldest in the country, but has always managed to navigate the path of modernity in order to fully engage in the economic development of the Kingdom.
