The interministerial commission responsible for monitoring supply, prices, and control operations, met on Wednesday and assured that national markets, during the first two weeks of the holy month of Ramadan, are abundantly and variedly supplied with consumer products.

“The reports provided by the relevant services, which monitor the market situation daily, have revealed that the markets are well supplied and offer an abundance and variety of consumer products during the first two weeks of this holy month, with the available stock of basic products covering national needs for several months,” the Directorate of Competition, Prices, and Compensation said in a statement on the 3rd meeting of this commission during this holy month.

Regarding the evolution of prices during this period, various fluctuations were observed depending on the products, the same source stated, noting that at the end of the second week of Ramadan, a downward trend in prices for certain products such as spices and pulses began, due to the return of demand for these products to normal levels after the significant influx observed at the beginning of Ramadan, which sometimes exerts pressure on prices.

In the same context, the prices of white meat, fish, and certain types of fruits continued to decline, reaching up to 8%.

As for other products such as flour and its derivatives, table oils, and butter, their prices remained stable in the short term and remain significantly lower than prices in effect at the same period last year. This situation is due to the fall in international prices of these products, many of which are imported to meet national needs, as well as measures taken by the government in this regard.

At the same time, increases were recorded during the second week of Ramadan for some vegetables, after significant decreases observed for these products in the past weeks, especially the prices of tomatoes, which increased significantly.

Thus, the national average price, which includes different sales points in several regions, increased from 5 dirhams per kilogram (DH/KG) at the beginning of Ramadan to 8.5 DH/KG at the end of the first half, with levels exceeding 10 dirhams in some markets.

Furthermore, the commission observed that vegetable prices generally experience seasonal fluctuations related to several interdependent factors, including increasing demand, harvest timing, and weather conditions.

Despite these relative increases, vegetable prices remain low compared to prices during the previous Ramadan, the same source pointed out.

Regarding fuel prices, they are stable and have not seen any increases in the previous weeks, especially butane gas, whose prices are subsidized by the compensation fund.

This commission met under the chairmanship of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, in the presence of representatives from the ministries of Interior, Agriculture and Maritime Fisheries, Industry and Trade, Energy Transition, and relevant public institutions.
