Access to the Internet service has been disrupted since Thursday, March 14, 2024. This situation, resulting from the unavailability of several undersea cables, is affecting several countries in the region, including Benin. However, the internet services of Moov Africa Benin remain functional.
In a press release issued on Monday, March 18, 2024, Moov Africa Benin reassured its valued customers that its infrastructure is not affected by the disruptions experienced for almost a week and that the Internet service is accessible with the best performance.
According to the explanation from the General Management, Moov Africa’s Internet backbone is connected to the global Internet backbone via the West Africa undersea cable of the Maroc Telecom group.
Furthermore, to address this unprecedented situation and the high demand that results from it, the technical and commercial teams of Moov Africa Benin are fully mobilized with the support of those from the Maroc Telecom Group to implement new capacities on the West Africa undersea cable as soon as possible, in order to enhance Internet performance and meet the connectivity needs of its subscribers.
For reference, the West Africa undersea cable from the Maroc Telecom Group is a cable of over 9400 km with a capacity ranging from 20 to 60 Tbps, connecting West Africa to Europe via Morocco through 8 landing points. This massive and ambitious infrastructure is the result of a pan-African cooperation that mobilized an investment of 150 million euros funded by a consortium composed of Maroc Telecom and its African subsidiaries.
