During this interview, Mr. Mayara highlighted the significant evolution of bilateral relations, especially on the political level, based on shared human ties and values of understanding and mutual respect, according to a statement from the Chamber of Counselors. He believed that the two countries are called to strengthen and promote their relations on various levels, particularly on the economic level, “which falls short of the aspirations of the two friendly countries and peoples.”

In this regard, the President of the second Chamber emphasized the importance of parliamentary cooperation as a means to promote and strengthen bilateral cooperation and establish bridges of cooperation and rapprochement between the two friendly nations. In this sense, he expressed the strong willingness of the legislative institution to develop cooperation with the Senate of the Philippines and establish permanent channels of parliamentary dialogue to ensure the continuous follow-up of bilateral and multilateral relations.

Regarding the issue of the Moroccan Sahara, the President of the Chamber of Counselors praised the position of the Republic of the Philippines and its unwavering support for Morocco’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, while also expressing the Kingdom’s support for the Philippines against all forms of separatism and in favor of its territorial integrity.

On the other hand, the Ambassador of the Philippines welcomed the level of political and diplomatic relations between the two countries, which are entering their fifth decade, emphasizing the need to take advantage of the fiftieth anniversary of bilateral relations to give a new impetus to bilateral cooperation “by enriching it in key areas such as migration, combating climate change, and renewable energies.” In this context, Mr. Baja stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation between parliamentarians of the two countries by exchanging experiences and intensifying coordination and consultation in various regional and international parliamentary bodies on matters of common interest, the statement concludes.
