Activities will be organized to mark World Water Day 2024, celebrated on March 22nd each year, to raise awareness of the vital importance of water for safeguarding human security and maintaining the health of the planet’s ecosystems.

This year’s theme for World Water Day is Water for Peace. The Ministry of Energy and Public Utilities, in collaboration with the Central Water Authority (CWA) and the Wastewater Management Authority (WWMA), will be engaged in the following activities: an exhibition on water organized by the French Development Agency at the French Institute of Mauritius; an exhibition and open days showcasing the CWA’s water treatment facilities at the La-Marie water treatment plant; tree planting at the Salazie service reservoir and the La-Nicolière water treatment plant, in collaboration with HSBC and the Lions Club of Quatre-Bornes; a training session on Epanet with officers from this ministry, CWA, WWMA, and the Irrigation Authority; and a mural painting competition for amateur artists.
