The government’s actions have been beneficial in the fight for gender equality. “In the last 10 years, we have made progress,” said Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth on Sunday, February 25.

He was speaking at the official celebrations of Women’s Day held at the SVICC in Pailles. Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth also affirmed that it is the responsibility of men to respect the roles of women. They must recognize the value of women in society. “It’s a matter of mentality. Speaking about politics, Pravind Jugnauth said he feels a sense of duty fulfilled. But there is still work to be done. He added, “We will do everything we can to have more women as candidates in the next general election.”

The Prime Minister reiterated, “I am determined to combat violence against women and abuse against children.” The actions taken by the government have been beneficial in the fight for gender equality, he said. “In the last 10 years, we have made progress.”
