The Peros Banhos returned from Rodrigues last night, Thursday, March 7, with a cargo of seven containers of fruits and vegetables for the Mauritian market. The unloading of pumpkins, eggplants, bananas, melons, among others, took place this morning.
The MV Peros Banos, a versatile ship of 8200 tons, arrived in Rodrigues for its inaugural voyage on March 3 with two containers filled with materials for fishermen and women who stitch octopus.
Designed by the Chinese maritime transport company Huanghai Shipbuilding Co Ltd, it was delivered to the Mauritius Shipping Corporation last December. It is 115.70 meters long and 20 meters wide and will be used for logistics transport and coastal shipping between Mauritius and Rodrigues and between Mauritius and Agalega. Kobita Jugnauth, wife of Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth, christened the ship on February 28 at the Port Louis Cruise Terminal.
