Franceau Grandcourt took an oath as Chief Commissioner of the Executive of the Rodrigues Regional Assembly on Wednesday, March 6.

The ceremony took place in front of the President of the Republic, Prithirajsing Roopun, at Jean Paul II Stadium in La-Ferme, Rodrigues.

This development came about with the electoral agreement signed before the regional elections in February 2022, known as the Electoral Agreement Le Récif. As part of this agreement, it was agreed that Franceau Grandcourt, the leader of the Union du peuple de Rodrigues (UPR), a partner of the regional government, would hold the position of Chief Commissioner for the next three years, following Johnson Roussety’s first term during the first two years of L’Alliance Libération’s mandate – as the leader of the regional government until 2027.
