Franceau Grandcourt will present his first budget as the new Chief Commissioner of Rodrigues this Friday at 3:00 PM.
The 2024/2025 budget will be presented at the headquarters of the Regional Assembly. In a press briefing on Thursday, Franceau Grandcourt said he had expressed his concerns to the Prime Minister during a meeting in Rodrigues.
It is worth noting that the political situation in Rodrigues has been difficult since the transition in the functions of Chief Commissioner at the Regional Assembly of Rodrigues.
Indeed, the new No. 2 of the Executive Council and former Chief Commissioner, Johnson Roussety, announced that he will not vote for the Rodrigues budget for the 2024/25 fiscal year. Christian Agathe has also indicated that he aligns with his leader’s position on this matter.
Franceau Grandcourt will therefore have to confirm whether the majority of the regional government is still in place.
