The Prime Minister, Pravind Jugnauth, and his wife Kobita visited Ganga Talao yesterday evening as part of the Maha Shivaratree pilgrimage. Along the way to the giant statue of Mangal Mahadev, he stopped to exchange words with the faithful and the officials of the supply points. Bhojraj Ghoorbin, the president of the Mauritius Sanatan Dharma Temples Federation, and Luxmee Ramdhun-Bundhun were by his side as well as ministers Renganaden Padayachy, Kailesh Jagutpal, and Deepak Balgobin.

With the pilgrimage underway, a large crowd is expected today and tomorrow at La-Vigie and La-Marie as pilgrims from the north of the country make their way back. Last night, it took four hours to reach Ganga-Talao from Vacoas and the same will be the case until Friday.
