– Possible alignment of Adrien Duval to No. 4 if the deal is sealed
The Labour Party (PTr) and the Mouvement Militant Mauricien (MMM) are still awaiting the final position of the Parti Mauricien Social Démocrate (PMSD). This was indicated yesterday afternoon in informed circles amidst ongoing negotiations between Navin Ramgoolam, Paul Bérenger, and Xavier-Luc Duval. As the week comes to a close, despite the decisions and compromises made to advance the electoral deal, there is a sense that the PMSD has not yet had the final say in the negotiations. In fact, since Thursday, Xavier-Luc Duval has had lengthy discussions with the leader of the MMM, and the latter had a one-on-one meeting with Navin Ramgoolam before the mobilization meeting of the Reds for the May 1st gathering in Ebene.
The information that emerged yesterday afternoon suggests that Navin Ramgoolam and Paul Bérenger are waiting for the response to the latest proposals made to the leader of the Blues. The latter took time to reflect yesterday, as he was also occupied with other responsibilities at his office as leader of the opposition. The latest indications highlight a possible alignment of Adrien Duval in Port Louis Nord/Montagne-Longue (No. 4), a ticket that was originally intended for former minister Aurore Perraud. It is possible that she could be parachuted to Stanley/Rose-Hill (No. 19) as the running mate of MMM leader Paul Bérenger.
By last night, it was reported that Xavier-Luc Duval would communicate his final position on Saturday, with the PTr and the MMM demanding that the electoral deal be concluded by the weekend at the latest to ensure the smooth organization of the May 1st gathering.
