April will be marked by an increase in the amount of pensions, with an increase of Rs 2,500. This announcement was made by the Minister of Social Integration and Social Security, Fazila Jeewa Daureeawoo, in a press briefing on Friday, March 15.

According to the new scale, individuals aged 60 to 64 will now receive Rs 13,500, while those aged 65 to 74 will benefit from Rs 14,500. For those aged 75 to 89, the pension increases to Rs 16,000, and to Rs 23,710 for those aged 90 to 99. Centenarians will receive a monthly sum of Rs 28,710.

As for widows, the disabled, and orphans, the pension will increase to Rs 13,500.

“We said that the pension would become Rs 13,500 and we have managed to do so. If Mauritius has progressed, it is through our efforts,” the minister emphasized.
