“If I were the leader of the PMSD, I would have long ago left and ended that alliance.” These were the words of Minister Soodesh Callichurn during the press conference of the MSM, held this Saturday, April 6th.
The orange deputy was commenting on the allocation of opposition tickets according to the 35-17-8 formula of the PTr/MMM/PMSD alliance. Drawing on the words of political observers, Soodesh Callichurn did not hesitate to heap praise on Xavier-Luc Duval’s performances in parliament as the leader of the opposition.
“The PMSD should have more consideration than the MMM,” argued the minister. “Why this disparity in the distribution of tickets between the MMM and the PMSD?”
“An alliance was just formed, but the marriage has not yet taken place. Before the financial marriage breaks down, they are already pretending and aspiring to lead the country?” Soodesh Callichurn added.
The minister’s comments reflect a sense of dissatisfaction with the current distribution of tickets within the opposition alliance, highlighting a perceived lack of fairness towards the PMSD. The video embedded in the article captures the essence of his statements.
Overall, Soodesh Callichurn’s remarks reveal tensions and concerns within the opposition alliance, particularly regarding the share of resources and opportunities afforded to each party. As political dynamics continue to evolve in Mauritius, it remains to be seen how these issues will be addressed and whether the alliance can maintain its cohesion in the face of internal disagreements.
