Richard Duval and Khushal Lobine submitted their resignation letters this morning, Tuesday, April 16. In his letter, Khushal Lobine cited several reasons, addressed to party leader Xavier-Luc Duval, including the way the political situation is being handled within the party.

“Instead of working with our opposition allies to prepare and finalize the political manifesto, which was our primary task and commitment (a committee that you chaired and that I was on with other members of the PTr and MMM), I was surprised to see that the Party engaged in a ticket negotiation method with our allies, conducted in public, through the press, by individuals who, to my knowledge, were not authorized by the Party,” deplored Khushal Lobine.

Richard Duval, on the other hand, stated, “I am deeply hurt because a certain level of distrust has developed within the party in recent weeks. Furthermore, the information about a possible rapprochement with the MSM goes against my principles, the same principles that led you to leave the government in 2016,” he added.

Both resignations highlight internal issues within the party, including concerns about the handling of negotiations with allies and potential alliances that conflict with the core values of the resigning members.

It is clear that there is a disagreement on the direction and strategies being pursued by the party leadership, leading to these prominent members deciding to step down from their positions. The resignations signal a fracture within the party and raise questions about its future trajectory and internal dynamics.

The resignations of Richard Duval and Khushal Lobine are a notable development in the political landscape, shedding light on the internal challenges and divisions within the party. Their departure brings to the forefront the need for unity and consensus-building within the party to effectively navigate the complex political environment and maintain its relevance and credibility in the eyes of the public.
