The Prime Minister, Pravind Jugnauth, has expressed concern about the rising waters at the Ganga Talao lake in Grand-Bassin.

During a visit to the site on Friday, February 23 to assess the aftermath of Cyclone Eleanor, the PM mentioned his fears regarding the upcoming Maha Shivaratree pilgrimage at the sacred lake, scheduled for the week of March 8.

In a statement, Pravind Jugnauth emphasized the importance of close monitoring by the relevant authorities, including rescue teams, firefighters, and the SMF, before and during the celebrations to ensure the safety of the devotees.

The various teams on site will need to monitor the water levels and provide assistance if needed.

The Prime Minister sought to reassure the public that the authorities are closely monitoring the situation due to the changing weather conditions.
