The Prime Minister, Pravind Jugnauth, Mgr Jean-Michael Durhône, Cardinal Maurice E. Piat, and members of the curia made their way to Rodrigues for the ceremony.

Born on September 28, 1962 in Vacoas, Michel Moura is the seventh child of Emilie Louise and Bénédict Moura, a family of nine children – seven boys and two girls. After the father’s death in 1974, the family moved to Plaisance, Rose-Hill. He completed his primary education at Plaisance Hugnin Government School. He pursued his secondary education at Lycée Léoville L’Homme and finished his HSC in 1982 at Collège Eden. Ordained at the age of 44, Mgr Moura served as the parish priest of Saint Esprit in Bel-Air. On June 12, 2005, Michel Moura was ordained as a deacon – the final step before becoming a priest – in Luçon, France.
