Xavier-Luc Duval submitted his resignation as leader of the opposition on Monday. He went to the State House this afternoon to submit his correspondence.

“As agreed, I have presented my letter of resignation as leader of the opposition to the President of the Republic. Yesterday, as I mentioned, it was a surprise for me. Nevertheless, in accordance with the Constitution, it is mandatory that I submit my resignation letter today due to the divergences within the alliance,” XLD stated.

“I have been happy to take on this position. It was a lot of work and a lot of effort,” he added.

In six years, the leader of the PMSD said he had asked 135 PNQs in the National Assembly. Among them were questions on the Molnupiravir case and the floods in Port Louis.

“It was a lot of work, but also a lot of pleasure. I fully support the next leader of the opposition. I hope that democracy will emerge victorious,” Xavier-Luc Duval concluded.
