The evolution of the moderate tropical storm Eleanor will be monitored until Wednesday, with the program possibly being postponed at the last minute.
The government is planning a Koup-Riban ceremony for the SAJ Bridge and the new A1-MI road, which seems to have the appearance of an election campaign rally this Thursday. This is evident from the means and logistics deployed to mark the inauguration by Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth of the suspension bridge, spanning the gorges of the Grande-Rivière-Nord-Ouest, connecting Chebel to Sorèze, bearing the name of the iconic leader of the MSM, the late sir Anerood Jugnauth.
The event is shaping up to be the start of the grand season of inaugurations with the delivery of major projects and other initiatives in recent years. As a result, the base of the MSM is greatly mobilized to ensure a presence at the official program.
Buses will be made available to MSM supporters this Thursday in the twenty constituencies. In informed circles, there is talk of at least one bus per constituency, with canvassing taking place at youth centers and among the elderly.
Pravind Jugnauth will have to proceed with two stages to cut the ribbon of the SAJ Bridge, the first upon arrival near Chebel, and the second at Sorèze, after driving over the bridge in a car. It is planned for the Helicopter Squadron to deploy three aircraft to scatter flowers on the new modern A1-M1 bridge. The Impact Production company, under the direction of Jean-Luc Mannenback, has secured the contract for a fusion show.
However, for the Prime Minister’s journey, departing from Coromandel and heading towards Sorèze, the spectacle will be ensured by motorcyclists under the supervision of CI Ashok Matar and his men. While the show that will be ensured by the police and other cultural artists is ready, attention has been focused on the evolution of the moderate tropical storm since yesterday.
The Meteorological Department forecasts that Eleanor is expected to intensify from this afternoon and move towards the East, then return towards the South and the South-Southwest. If it maintains this movement, the system could pose a direct threat to Mauritius from Thursday with a high probability of cyclonic conditions on the island at the end of this week.
At the government level, they will give themselves until tomorrow afternoon to decide on the conduct of this grand ceremony for the SAJ Bridge, with the Meteorological Department determining the agenda.
