The government has approved the signing of a technical agreement to combat the proliferation of drugs and psychotropic substances between Mauritius and France.

The agreement aims to strengthen technical and operational cooperation through the exchange of information, sharing of best practices, and the implementation of specialized training and technical assistance, among other things.

The cooperation revolves around the enhancement of professional skills and operational expertise, the promotion of mutual support at the regional level, and the improvement of mutual understanding of methodologies and procedures.

Furthermore, a technical cooperation agreement on the exchange of information on maritime traffic surveillance and personnel training will be signed between Mauritius and France.

The agreement aims to harmonize the practices of the Mauritius National Coast Guard’s Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Centre and the La Réunion Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Centre.

This agreement will define the practical modalities of mutual support they could provide each other and specify the areas of collaboration to ensure continuous improvement of the services provided as well as the rapid and effective exchange of relevant information between the two operational centers.
