The meeting last Friday at Plaza in Rose-Hill between the top officials of Ivan Collendavelloo’s Muvman Liberater (ML), Steven Obeegadoo’s Plateforme Militante (PM), and Alan Ganoo’s Muvman Patriot Morisien (MPM) ended in a stalemate. However, this gathering of partners from the government majority aimed to develop a political agreement and also increase their electoral bargaining power with the Mouvement Socialiste Militant (MSM).
Information gathered by Week-End from reliable sources indicates a serious disagreement on leadership among these government supporters. Each of the three dissenting formations from the MMM was represented by ten members to advance the discussions. However, the main obstacle to overcome remains the issue of leadership, specifically the choice of leader among Ivan Collendavelloo, Steven Obeegadoo, and Alan Ganoo.
The three leaders emphasized the need to unite and offer a “lifeline” to the supporters, especially those who do not approve of the PTr-MMM-PMSD alliance. “We need to become an option for those who are not happy with the alliance,” they argue. Nevertheless, it seems that no consensus has been reached on the leadership issue, with the “collegial” formula not receiving unanimous support, as each of the three formations claims the ambition to lead the agreement.
The meeting began with another point of contention among the supporters. Tension rose when Ivan Collendavelloo wanted to address a problem within Muvman Liberater, namely the case of Ismael Rawoo in No. 13 (Rivière des Anguilles/Souillac). The presence of Parwez Nunnoo, Alan Ganoo’s protege on the ground, was not well received by Muvman Liberater members. Ivan Collendavelloo sought clarification regarding the political ambitions of the Chairman of the Taxi Owners Welfare Fund, concerned that he might be seeking a political position. Parwez Nunnoo, who was part of Alan Ganoo’s team, indicated that since his time with the MMM, and being a grassroots individual, he focuses on No. 13 and is currently only engaging in social activities.
Parwez Nunnoo boldly stated to Ivan Collendavelloo, “I do not need permission from anyone to engage in social activities in Number 13.” The ML leader insisted that Parwez Nunnoo cease his activities on the field. The exchanges became heated, and with the turn of events, PPS Tania Diolle from Ganoo’s team was seen leaving the room.
On Friday’s agenda was the organization of a political rally for the ML-PM-MPM agreement on March 1st in Savanne/Rivière Noire, Alan Ganoo’s constituency. However, it seems that no decision has been made at this stage.
