Despite the presence of Cyclone Eleanor and the whims of Mother Nature, the 12,660 subscribers of the Central Electricity Board (CEB) who had been disconnected from the electricity grid have been reconnected.
Thanks to the hard work of the CEB’s technical team, who worked tirelessly in the field while the country was under a Class 3 cyclone alert, power was restored in several regions within six hours on Thursday, February 22nd.
The northern regions were mainly affected, including Crève Coeur, Terre Rouge, Arsenal, les Cascades, Calebasses, Pamplemousses, Khoyratty, Bois Pignolet, Notre Dame, and Camp Laboue, as pointed out by Thierry Ramasawmy, the CEB’s communication manager.
The central region was also not spared, with areas like La Vigie, Forest Side, Rose-Belle, Union Park, and Nouvelle France being affected.
Despite the challenges posed by Cyclone Eleanor, the CEB’s team worked efficiently and effectively to ensure that the affected subscribers were back on the grid in a timely manner. Their dedication and quick response during adverse weather conditions is commendable.
The reconnection of electricity to these regions is essential for the comfort and safety of the residents, especially during severe weather events like cyclones. The CEB’s prompt action in restoring power demonstrates their commitment to providing reliable electricity services to the population.
Overall, the successful reconnection of the affected subscribers is a testament to the resilience and efficiency of the CEB’s technical team, who worked tirelessly to address the challenges posed by Cyclone Eleanor and restore power to those in need.
